Activities and Programs
Freetown Village youths are invited to go to the Recreation Center for the programs and activities offered by the Anne Arundel County Parks and Recreation Department and the splendid Freetown Village Boys & Girls Club. The program also gives parents the opportunity to socialize with neighbors, make new friends and renew old acquaintances.

Freetown Village has an on-site manager available to assist residents. The social worker and addictions counselor are also available on site to assist residents with a variety of needed services to enhance their quality of life. A staff of tenant patrol, on-site police unit, youth activities officers and Community Safety Unit Coordinators are actively involved in supportive services ranging from homemaker classes, budgeting, and referring residents to the appropriate social service agency in the area, if necessary.

We also encourage residents to participate in the active resident council. The Resident Council provides rights and needs of the residents of Freetown Village. The Council meets every 2nd Monday at 7:00 p.m.

Over the years many traditions have brought the community of Freetown Village together as one with several purposes in mind, to give thanks and get community involvement. Through celebrations people seem to forget about the problems and cares of the world and begin to focus on all the good that comes out of having a sense of community.

In recognition for the Thanksgiving Holiday, staff and residents commence to express an act of giving thanks and an expression of gratitude by celebrating over a feast of “SOUL FOOD”. This feast has become a tradition for the community of Freetown Village for many years. All participating residents meet at the Boys and Girls Club to candidly select their specialty food dish. The menu consists of turkey, ham, fried chicken, collard greens, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes & gravy, candied yams, sauerkraut, cranberry sauce and a variety of desserts. Before digging into our favorite dish, we all form a circle and individually express what we are most thankful for during this holiday season.

This celebration and other activities such as monthly resident council meetings are a great opportunity for new and old residents to meet and greet and gather with family, friends, neighbors and staff. The council meetings are an informative way of getting to know what is going on the community and how you can get involved.
