We are currently completing orientations for public housing and section 8 families who wish to better their futures and hope to increase their employment ability and/or move to home ownership. If you are a landlord or property owner in Anne Arundel County, this information will promote your understanding of the housing programs and give you the knowledge of how to get involved, and the benefits of participating in our Housing Programs. Unit and landlord eligibilityAny rental unit is eligible for the program if it meets the following criteria:
Any landlord or owner willing to work within the guidelines of the Housing Choice Voucher Program is eligible to participate, provided he or she is in good standing with National Housing Authority. Owners may be barred from participating if they have breached leases with participating tenants or violated relevant laws or program rules. As a rule, owners may not rent units to relatives who are voucher-holders. Benefits of the programRegular Payments Landlords receive 60% or more of each eligible tenant’s monthly rent from HCAAC. The payments arrive regularly every month, which help low-income families afford decent and safe housing. They also provide a source of income for the landlords and property owners that participate in the program that are dependable, timely, and regular.
