 08/11/2008 WAITING LIST PURGEThe semi-annual waiting list purge has been completed. Postcards were mailed to all applicants and their emergency contacts who have had no file activity prior to Jan 08. Each applicant who received a postcard was requested to tear off a portion and to drop it in return mail. All postage was paid. If the applicant failed to do so, they were removed from all waiting lists and are certainly welcome to re-apply.08/11/2008 NOTICE TO LANDLORDS-UPDATEOur Thanks to all Landlords who have provided bank information to allow us to process automatic direct deposits. This process has saved us many hours of manual labor, and has afforded you quicker access to payments. For the few that still have not responded, please do so as soon as possible.06/25/2008 NOTICE TO LANDLORDSOver the past several months we have made you aware that effective July 1, 2008 HCAAC would no longer issue checks for subsidy payments for your clients. If you have not provided the required bank information to us, you need to do so immediately to facilitate the release of your payments. Resident Services include a full time manager and aide, full time Social Worker, an on site office where a doctor and podiatrist meet with resident patients and a Resident Council which represents the rights and needs of the Burwood Gardens population. Residents have also instituted a food share program where monthly group purchases are made saving money for all who participate. The Community Safety Department provides services to maintain our community as secure and act as a liaison between residents and police. Burwood Gardens is directly across the street from shopping and banking. Burwood Gardens is located near North Arundel Hospital, Harbor Hospital and other locations in Baltimore City. There is something for everyone here with Bingo, Ceramics, Line Dancing, and a social club to provide parties, luncheons and dinners. Burwood also boasts a band that plays the tunes of the 30s and 40s weekly in the Community Building. About Burwood Gardens…The community of Burwood Gardens is comprised of 200 garden style apartments, ranging in size from efficiencies to 2 bedroom units. Our residents are either senior citizens (over the age of 62) or are disabled adults. There is on-site management and 24 hour maintenance ready to assist, when needed, as well as a part time Human Services Caseworker. So many activities…There is never a dull moment at Burwood Gardens. There is a Resident Council, comprised of residents of the community who are “elected” by the members to serve, volunteering their time for the benefit and welfare of all who live here. If you like to work on crafts, play bingo, listen to great live music, attend social gatherings (like holiday parties & ice cream socials, for example), take great bus trips, and attend weekly luncheons, this is the place to be! All about the “Nutrition Program”…Are you aware that the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging sponsors a weekday meal program in the community’s Nutrition Room? This program is very affordable and is open to all senior (over 62) and disabled citizens throughout the County. It is a wonderful way to have a hot, balanced meal and spend some fun, quality time with other folks who may not feel like cooking for themselves and love to socialize.
